How a custom rubber ramp is made
From a single 20mm threshold wedge to a 4-metre recycled rubber ramp with landings, the process is the same: measure, design, build, fit. Here’s what happens between your call and the moment someone rolls through the door without a bump.

Measure
We record height (A), length (B) and width (C) at each opening, check the floor for fall and note door swings, tracks and drainage.
- 02
Design
We set the gradient — commonly 1:8 or 1:10 to AS1428.1 — and add notches, landings, infills or safety edges.
- 03
Build
The ramp is formed and bonded from recycled tyre rubber in our Mentone workshop, then hand-finished for a flush lip.
- 04
Fit
We place it, check door clearance and wheel transfer, and adjust on the spot if the site needs it.

Why choose a custom ramp over a standard size?
A ramp that’s even 5mm off leaves a lip that catches walker wheels and toes. Custom ramps meet your step exactly and fit the full width of the opening.
Can you make a ramp for a non-standard step?
Yes — that’s most of what we do. R Jay had a ramp made for a non-standard step and delivered to Sydney.
How long does a custom rubber ramp take?
Typically 1–2 weeks from measure to install. Simple ramps can be quicker; we once turned one around within 48 hours of approval.
Do I need to measure myself?
Not in Melbourne — we measure for free. Interstate customers can use our measured quote form and we’ll check the numbers with you.
Can a custom ramp go around a sliding door track?
Yes. We shape the ramp to sit over or beside the track so the door still slides freely.
What gradient will you use?
Usually 1:8 or 1:10 in line with AS1428.1, or exactly what your OT specifies.
