Wheelchair ramps and handrails for home access
Our custom wheelchair ramps and handrails give safe, easy movement into and around your home. Whether the problem is the front step, a sliding door or a change in floor level, we design a ramp for that spot and add rails where a hand needs them.
- No drilling or glue
- AS1428.1 gradients
- Free home assessment

Why choose our wheelchair ramps?
A wheelchair ramp for home has to work for the person pushing as well as the person sitting. We set gradients that are genuinely manageable, add landings where doors open outward, and fit handrails at the right height for walking users and carers.

Every home is unique, and so are our ramps. We take precise measurements to ensure a perfect fit, eliminating lips, gaps and wobble.

Non-slip surface
Safety is our top priority. The textured rubber surface gives secure footing and traction even in wet conditions, with optional yellow safety edging.
- Enhanced safety
- Weather resistant
- Easy maintenance
Seamless integration with your home
Your home is your sanctuary. We design ramps and handrails to blend in rather than stand out as medical equipment — black rubber against the step, brushed stainless against brick. For bigger rises and permanent structures we also build timber wheelchair ramps; for installation across the city see wheelchair ramp installation in Melbourne.
What our clients say
R Jay
We got a ramp for a non-standard step here at RampsRUs. David was excellent with his communication and delivered the ramp from Melbourne to Sydney very efficiently. The quote was also reasonable. The ramp is exactly what we asked for. I highly recommend them!
Callum Ward
I used David to build a ramp for my client Julie. He was fast to reply and very professional. He had the ramp built within 48hrs within our approval and his prices were very affordable. If you need ramp then this is the company you need to go with.
Kaye Clemente
Thanks, David for always providing quality work for our clients. Looking forward to more projects with you and your team.
Angus Jackson
Great communication and response time for quote requests and high quality of work.
Questions, answered
Wheelchair Ramps & Handrails FAQs
Still unsure? Call 0422 166 173 and talk to the people who build the ramps.
What gradient should a wheelchair ramp be?
For home use we usually build 1:8 or 1:10. Gentler is easier to push; steeper takes less room. Your OT can recommend the right gradient for you.
Do I need handrails on my wheelchair ramp?
For short threshold ramps, usually not. For longer ramps, or where walking users and carers use the ramp, handrails add real safety. We’ll advise at the assessment.
How wide should a wheelchair ramp be?
Wide enough for the chair plus hand clearance — commonly the full door opening. We measure the chair and the doorway before building.
Do I need council approval for a wheelchair ramp?
Removable rubber ramps don’t. Permanent structural ramps may, depending on size and location. We’ll tell you if yours needs it.
Can you install a wheelchair ramp at a rental?
Yes. Rubber ramps need no fixings. Handrails do fix to the building, so you’ll need landlord consent for those.
Can you ramp a front step with a landing?
Yes — we build landings so you’re not balancing on a slope while opening an outward-swinging door.
Are wheelchair ramps covered by the NDIS?
Often. See NDIS ramps for how we handle quotes and invoicing.
